Gloria Onwugamba
The rainy afternoon and the squeaks of the boots, with the bloom of the flowers the next morning. The spring in life is fun, very youthful. The sweat on your forehead, the coldest of your toes going into the pool. Summers heat brings maturity and creativity level. The nice brisk wind and the colors of orange, green, and red. Falls maturity and calmness. The cold, dull winter last. We can use these seasons to figure out where you are at in life. I can see now looking in the mirror im in summer and the young girl Lizabeth the narrator in the Marigold by Eugene.
In the story Marigolds by Eugene Collier the young girl Lizabeth witnessed her father crying in the sadness about the great depression. Relating to my life much younger then Lizabeth I witnesses my mother laugh like nothing is wrong when we both knew that her crutch on life was broken and left her destitute to learn how to walk on her own two feet. Even I gave up on her but I watched her learn how to slowly walk and with faith I had faith in her. These experiences and much more things that you couldn’t possibly imagine is what made me trade in the jeans and chucks for the shorts and flip flops.
Many things can happen in a couple of months you can get taller, get bigger, get smaller, get smarter, even dark. The classic saying is you’ve matured over the summer. Linking back to the story Marigolds she matured that summer when she realized that stomping her neighbors flowers was immature. I cam over that realization playing outside in fact it starts in spring for many people. It should start at the age 7 when you know right from wrong. Or should it begin in the sandbox days when boys had coodies and everyone strived to color in the lines. Either way maturity happens through out your life the level of my maturity equals the maturity of a hot summer day, that still has blooming flowers.
I strive for independence extremely, to make my own money, buy my own clothes. To me the opposite of independence is to be dependent. In my eyes all children are dependent on their parents or guardian. I don’t want to be considered a child, a child stays in a child’s place. I don’t, I not to be young but Im forced by the world, the world forces me to be dependent on my parents. Now I will strive to be independent don’t forget the last name or the pretty smile when im on the 42nd floor of a building behind a desk in a expensive suit typing on a expensive keyboards, being independent.
Being in spring for too long makes the path towards summer very mentally and emotionally stressful. Lizabeth’s encounter with summer sun was in a strange ways. My encounter with summer was one that took a while and sometimes I continue to jump back to youthful days of spring. For now I will continue to be mature, strive for independence and keep my bubbly personality all the way to fall.

I make?
I make people jump for joy
when I'm good at mock trial, get A
or raise my hand with nothing to say
I make people smile from ear to ear
even seconds after the fall of a tear
...maybe from a best friend who trust me with EVERYTHING
such as the secrets from with in
I make people who are arrogant look down,
but i make my siblings look up to me
even if they grew past me
GET OFF THE COMPUTER
HANG UP THE PHONE
STAND IN THE CORNER
ALL alone....
I love my family even though
I make them aggravated.
But most of all I make them better!

English Essay
"Love withheld, restrained." They say we should never cry over a boy or girl but if there be sorrow let it be. The poem that fit my likings is "If there be Sorrow" by Mari Evans. It advises the reader that its okay to cry, but to cry about things you've never actually done. Emphasizing love withheld, and restrained so cry if you need to feel sorrow for being unloved, unrealized, undreamed. Mari Evans poem has voice and at the same time the voice sets a sad tone.Keeping it classic, poetic tradition the poem uses unique repetition. With that this poems meaning is very nice and will draw any reader as it did me.
From the moment the title crossed my eyes I was instantly taken. The title "If there be sorrow" is very captivating. When I saw the title I didn't understand the meaning, but the vocabulary gives the reader a sad feeling. It can leave one in though. Why?, because even the title sets the tone for the poem. The message after reading the poem is confusing. In the poem is confusing. In the poem they advise the reader to let sorrow be which is sad. Depending on how the reader reads it one can set your tone of voice to where it reads off as a relaxing poem. The tone explains sorrow and targets Love. So if "love withheld, restrained" let yourself feel sorrow. Also, the way it was introduces and the structure of it was a unique repetition. They made every word at one point begin with the prefix UN. Which means to no so when they say undreamed, unrealized, and unattained the poem meant cry for all the things one never accomplished. That's why i chose this poem because the message it had connected to me and my likings.
As a young girl, young man, or older we should live our life's to the fullest extent. If we regret everything or regret doing nothing your inviting sorrow. The poem emphasizing on the prefix UN, which means to not. If you never dreamed, or never loved have sorrow with yourself. Don't leave from this essay saying "so what?" walk away and understand. Life is short don't cry for the small stuff cry for things restrained. So ill leave one in thoughts just as i was.
